Never had this problem before, but tonight it came on suddenly. Acid came up into my throat, and caused choking, gasping, gulping, swallowing difficulties and -- duh -- panic. I have done basic research and am using OTC antacids right now. About a week or so ago I had about 2-3 days of immediate fullness upon eating normal meals, which I could not finish. This went away.

Could the fullness a week ago, and now this sudden onset of severe reflux like I have never had before . . . could they be related? I am due for a visit with the gastro, but until then, any advice on what I can do to alleviate the acid (hence reduce any damage that might be taking place)? And any suggestions as to what and how I should be eating?

Thanks, Jan. I have been sleeping on a wedge for some time now, padded with pillows. The small meals ... already doing. I was wondering if this could be part of pancreas issues, or blockage issues, or just a stand-alone new issue. Took it real easy today, while all my meds were wearing off. Rice cereal and scrambled eggs . . .
