You should not need a specialty pharmacy, since it is ordered from the manufacturer/distributor. You DO need a prescription though.

Do u have a Target or CVS? They always order it for me.

I've tried CVS although I need to try Target. I do have a prescription from my GI doctor but for some reason CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart says they are unable to order. I'll keep trying.

If the local wholesalers don't carry it it can be a nuisance to find a source. I struggled with this for a while before my local CVS started carrying it. A local compounding pharmacy might be more accommodating, and more used to creative sourcing of products. You might also try contacting the manufacturer of VSL (Sigma Tau), but in all likelihood they just won't know.

Another thought (that worked for me for about a year, until my CVS was able to order it): if your insurance includes mail order pharmacy benefits, they *might* be happy to send it to you. Some of the mail order pharmacies won't cover it, though - I've had both experiences.

Thank you for the suggestions Scott. I'll explore those options if I can't get it resolved soon.

There is OTC VSL 3 but it costs like $50 a month.
Finally, Insurance decided to cover (medco, yuck). They send a 3 month supply. My husband can make it last longer.

You can also go to www.VSL3.com and locate VSL #3 on the pharmacy locator, by typing your zipcode and state that you live in. I just did this for Kansas and this is what came up.
