quick summary...i was in the hospital for 5 days with a bowel obstruction. upon leaving, i was told in so many words that i had crohn's based on various factors seen on my CTs, scopes, x-rays, and history. i've been waiting for my follow up to discuss the biopsies and diagnosis, which i had today.
best news ever...my GI tells me, it's most likely NOT crohn's!? based off the biopsy results, it doesn't look like crohn's. there were still some abnormal biopsies, but they didn't indicate crohn's. they were more in line with inflammtion from a blockage caused by adhesions. my GI said that his gut tells him all the inflammation they saw in the small bowel was due to the irritation from the blockage and adhesions. the stomach irritation/bleeding that they found during the scope, he totally agreed with me, was that it was caused from the NG tube suction as i was in a lot of pain while the tube was in. so, at this point, we are waiting for my MRI on 12/31 to see what's going on. then i may need to follow up with the camera endoscopy. IF, the camera shows inflammation all through the small intestine...well, then crohn's is really the only option. but for now, he thinks it's all related to the blockage, which he still believes was caused by adhesions.
now, the other fun part. i've been having acute lower abdominal pain for 2 days. it got so bad yesterday that i couldn't even walk or move around. he examined me forever and was at a total loss for what it could be. he said it's not blockage and not hernia. so we sat and thought about it and i asked if it could be anything related to my reproductive parts. he looked back at the report from the hospital and apparently the ct scan showed i have an adrenal mass on my right ovary (i like how no one mentioned that to me until i brought it up). so, we are thinking that could be the pain right now. ultrasound with my gyne on monday to check that out. so ugh...i could be living with this pain for days. it's mild right now, but was pretty severe this morning. hoping that this will all just resolve itself with christmas week upon us! so much planned in the next week that i just can't miss out on.
but for now, i will take the good news that i don't (at this point in time) have crohn's. in 2 weeks, they may tell me otherwise :-/
