What should I have at the hospital for step 1 recovery?

I'm headed to the hospital on Dec. 10 for Step 1! (Dr. Bruce Robb at IU North in Indianapolis, for those interested)

What should I pack to take along with me for the (hopefully few) days that I'm there recovering? Obviously, I've got books, ipod, laptop, daily meds, good attitude, etc. on the list. Other suggestions are appreciated...stuff I might not have thought of.

Lip balm/hand lotion, slippers, loose pants with a drawstring to wear home from the hospital.

I'm heading for surgery tomorrow morning.

Bringing books, toiletries, cell phone and charger, laptop, slippers, etc....

TheRealBrettTravis - My husband is currently scheduled to have j-pouch surgery with Dr.Robb. We have a great impression of him, but since you have had surgery done by him, I would love to get in contact with you. Would you recommend him? How is your pouch now?

A big water bottle or something similar with a lid - I kept hitting my cup with my hand and spilling it all over my bedside table.

If you are bringing in a container from home, find out how much liquid it holds so that you can keep track of how much you drink.

Ear plugs, a sleep mask for your eyes and your own pillow or pillow case if you can
