Hi again, fellow J-Pouchers --
I'm wondering if anyone has experience with taking liquid magnesium supplements. The reason I'm considering this is that, aside from no longer having a colon - I'm a little more than a year post-takedown and doing well - I have a history of PVCs. For the uninitiated, premature ventricular contractions are a heart arrythmia. Put bluntly, the suck. The ventricle contracts before the atrium, which is the opposite of what's supposed to happen, and it feels like a punch in the chest. The doctors all tell you it's a benign condition, which simply means they don't have it and can't relate to how dreadful it feels. In a major run of PVCs, you can get lightheaded and loopy. It's not fun.
Magnesium supplements are supposed to be helpful, and I've heard that liquid magnesium is the best, as tablets and capsules are poorly absorbed. But most of the liquid supplements are magnesium citrate, which many of us remember fondly as the colonic cleanout solution of choice. I always had a hard time using mag cit for my cleanouts - nearly puked every time - and the mere thought of having to down that stuff again is literally making me nauseated right now. I guess I could choke it down if it helps these damn PVCs, though. As long as it doesn't mess with my pouch output, that is. Seems like it might loosen things up down there, and I surely don't need any loosening at this point.
So the question is: has anyone out there tried a liquid magnesium supplement? Any issues with your j-pouch? Thanks in advance.
