Hi everyone. I am 21 weeks pregnant and my doctor is unsure about giving me a glucose tolerance test. He is thinking all that sugar will flush right through me and the test results won't be accurate. He plans to consult with my GI dr. Any prior experience on this topic would be helpful. Thanks!

My husband has had the colitis and the jpouch..so, I can only tell you the experience from a normal colon. it was awful for me(or for any pregnant lady) (I also had gestational diabetes, so I had to go through the test every month). I would see if there is a different way to test.
I had mine and it was normal, I drank the stuff, lab took my blood an hour later and sugar was down, I'm good to go. Having no colon (assuming you have no colon) shouldn't affect how your body picks up and metabolizes the sugar, as it will all get absorbed before it reaches that point.
yes, you should be totally fine! no problems taking the test. they test you after an hour so there is no way it could make it into your pouch that fast. the sugar hits really quick, which is why people get sugar highs and lows.
I agree. If you can eat candy without it immediately causing diarrhea, you can do this test. It gets absorbed in less than 30 minutes.
