Hello All,

Ever since I had my reversal back in July and was switched to a J Pouch I feel as if my stool smells terrible. If I want to go on a date over a guy's house i'm terrified to use the toilet. Does anyone have any advice on deodorizers to buy that I could bring with me to take the smell away? Would thickening my stool or something I eat before I go over help the smell as well?

Thanks so much!

Chrissey

I would suspect that you have pouchitis or bacterial overgrowth to have such an obnoxious smell. You can call your doctor for a short course of antibiotics, or you can try probiotics and perhaps Pepto Bismol to turn this around.

Of course, if you are just self-conscious about normal smells that do not linger like a cloud, you can try travel size Ozium. It works pretty good.

It sucks! I have horrible smelling stool since I no longer use antibiotics. Before I smelled like nothing! Was great.

Certain foods tend to make my poop smell linger through the whole house, no matter what I do. So gross. One thing you can try is "Just a Drop" I get mine off Amazon in packets of 3 and it goes in the toilet before you go to the bathroom and helps trap some of the smell. Works for me when I am at work and helps the anxiety of ruining someone's nose.

Avoid fish and pork. those 2 will make me real stinky,
