Hi all,
I am scared this morning. Last night, I had a half of a pork cutlet for dinner and started to have some weird pains after dinner where my stoma used to be. Those pains have continued this morning. I have been able to go throughout the night and this morning but it feels like its pouring out of me now. Is is possible that I have an obstruction or something else going on? I am having some tea right now but not sure if I should chance it and try to eat a little food this morning. Any suggestions would be a big help.
Thanks

You might have a partial blockage at the old stoma site, everything is still quite swollen from the recent surgery so this wouldn't be unusual. As long as you continue to have BMs and you aren't nauseous it's OK to keep eating, but I would switch to a soft diet until you feel it's resolved (yogurt, runny oatmeal, soups, etc). You can also try very gently massaging the area, a warm compress, walking, and laying on either side.
