Hi everybody,
I am new to this site as I just found out about it from the hospital I am at. I am recovering from my J-pouch takedown. I was doing great up until last night when the frequency of gas picked up, along with feeling like I was going to vomit. They tried clear liquids with me this morning and I got nauseous. Now, I am back to NPO. This sucks. I didn't have these issues with both my ostomies.
Starting to wonder if I made the wrong choice. Have had quite a few liquid movements, passed some gas normally and while on toilet but gas keeps building and its painful.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

This is not uncommon. I had an ileus for several days after takedown and was npo more than once. I vomited several times during this period. I had a lot of pain with my ileus. Try and walk as much as possible and be patient. Sometimes it takes time for the bowel to wake up and start working. If you can back off pain meds if on them this will help as they slow everything down to a halt at times.
