Hi, this is my first post and apologies for the nature of it but I would really like some advice. I had my j-pouch formation on the 30th April of this year. I have noticed after vaginal intercourse that afterwards there is fresh blood mixed with the normal clear mucous coming out of my back passage. Is this normal or should I seek medical advice?
Thanks
Alice

My Gyno at Cleveland clinic gave me a few things not to do after having surgery and sex. She said missionary and doggy style should be out from now on. Said the best positions are on your side, spoon position and woman on top. It helps elongate the vagina and less stress on the cervix and since having these surgeries things are more delicate and don't stretch like they once did. Might help you if it is a position issue.

I was told the opposite with the total proctocolectomy (Barbie Butt) since the area is closed and scarred over we have less elasticity in the region and the spoon position isn't great under those circumstances...different doctors, different advice I guess.
As for the irritation and bleeding it could be the position or the enthusiasm or caliber of the partner...it could also be stress during intercourse??? if you are too stressed you may be tensing up all of the muscles (we tend to be tighter after these surgeries and our position/trajectory changes with the creation of the pouch) so he may be aiming in the wrong direction.
Relaxation, patience, creative positons (woman on top could be good but need to be careful to go slowly first)...
I guess if it is just a bit of trace blood you should be ok but if it keeps bleeding beyond an hour post sex then I would call your doc or your Gyn...
