It's called a fecal transplant. There was a very interesting newspaper article not long ago on a man who benefitted from this procedure. I'm all for anything that works!

Yep, Suppository form I could probably deal with that. The article and photo that I saw clearly showed a Capsule meant for swallowing by mouth.

Nope, it is an oral gel cap that survives the stomach and does not release until it gets to the small bowel. So much simpler than an invasive procedure. It is just bacteria, so should not be any worse than swallowing probiotics.

So cool! But is it actually approved or in clinical trials? I thought it was only in Canada? I'd love to try this - I'd beg my doctor to prescribe it off label if it is actually approved.

Here is another article on it but it doesn't say if it is in trials or actually approved for use with C-diff. Would love to see patients with IBD try it and see if it helps...

I am very interested in this as my bacteria is extremely bad. I will call the MD in Canada to see if I am a candidate even though I don't have c diff. Will let you know if I come up with anything. Please give us updates if someone finds out more.

I did about 5 hours of research on fecal transplants as I believe I really need one with all my terrible bacteria that has been uncovered from testing. It is only approved in the US for c diff but there is a clinical trial going on for crohns but we don't qualify because of J pouches or in my case because of cancer also.
