Some of you know that I have been having spasms in the area of my K-pouch for the past 12-14 days. My surgeon has told me to get a CT scan - but I have put it off as I have no real symptoms of a partial obstruction. No pain. No cramps. No nausea and the pouch is behaving normally. Good output each time I intubate. Just these pesky spasms.

However, a nurse with a K-pouch, says she worked in the ER of a hospital. When someone came in with a partial obstruction, they would administer Zantac through an IV. They seemed to get good results most of the time.

So, a couple of days ago, I began taking two Zantacs per day. And guess what? My spasms have darned near disappeared. If this trend continues, I don't think I will need to get the CT scan.

The reason the Zantac seems to work is that this med speeds up the peristalsis. Keep your fingers crossed. Hopefully, you can soon call me 'The Ex Spas'!

Good to hear that you are doing better Bodoni,
I am sick as a dog today...don't know what happened...sudden, horrid pain, I dropped to the ground and stayed down for ten minutes...felt like my whole stomach twisted, dry heaves, spasms and it felt like I had a Charlie Horse in my stomach...then it subsided and came back 5 minutes later...lasted an hour til I threw up...calmed down and I have been unable to swallow an ice chip today...been over 24hrs since I ate any solids and fluids don't stay down...I can't even take a pill...can't get a doctor to pop in a ER sucks here...they could leave me waiting for 6hrs in the waiting room. I will try for my GP tomorrow.
Not sure what this is but nothing is going in or down...
I am miserable
