Hi everyone. I am new to this forum group and was wondering if anyone can offer me some advice. I suffered from collitis for a number of years before I had a Proctocolectomy with ileostomy and bag fitted.
I had that for 3 and half years and have recenlty undergone final pouch surgery to conenct it all back up. This was done on 29th July so 7 weeks ago. I appreciate things are probably still settling down but I need some advice as i am very uncomfortable. My stool movemement during the day seem to be okay 6-8 times depending on what I have eaten. I am however very sore and am suffering wiht irritation and anal itching. Last night I was in a lot of pain and was up for most of the night. I have been recommended to use nappy rash cream (sudocream) which helps but as I am going to the toilet alot doesnt get a chance to heal it. My stools are still very runny and eating differently doesnt change this much. Does anyone know of any medication that will help make it more solid. I am taking around 6-8 imodium a day which helps during day but not at night. I beleive if my stools werent so runny then it woudl be as sore, is this right?
Also if anyone knows of any other creams/ medication I can apply would be good to know?
Thanks alot for your help. I am trying to do my job and am really struggling at the moment as it is so uncomfortable. Consultant doesnt offer much assitance and feel I have been left on my own with this!
