I had trouble with iron and my Dr. gave me a prescription for a type that is easier on the system--I believe it is called niferate. You should ask about it. I do believe you can only get it by prescription but that was a few years ago so maybe it is over the counter now. It was much much easier to tolerate.
You might also try halving the dose you are currently taking. It might take longer to build up your iron stores but easier for you to tolerate. Good luck.

Constipation is very common when taking Iron supplements. I take this Iron http://www.amztk.com/iron-vitamins and I've seen amazing results. I don't know what they put inside but it didn't constipate me even one bit and they're extremely easy on the stomach. This also contains Vitamin C in it which is the only way Iron can absorb, that means that I did not have to add on any additional supplement. Whoever I recommended this Iron to has not been let down.
