Some morning when i wake up my BM starts out water/thick and then all of a sudden its really foamy, so many tiny bubbles...this doesnt happen all the time but maybe 2 a week if that..just curious why thats happening, it resolves itself after eating so i have some ideas as to what it could be but wondering what you guys think about it..

also i started some Preparation H cream last night before bed, I found it harder to go to the bathroom that night, as a matter of fact when i got up at 3:55am i needed to go, went into the bathroom and hardly any came out...that hasnt happened in awhile so i can only assume the Prep H was cause..

My BMs have always generally been more watery in the morning, and thicken up as the day goes on. I attribute this to not having much food in my system. That being said, foamy stool that floats is sometimes indicative of poor absorption. You might want to chart back what you ate the evening before and see if a particular food is triggering it.

As for the Prep H, I'm not really sure. I know it is supposed to shrink inflammation; I'm not really sure of the mechanism but maybe it's causing too much constriction? Something to consider.

You can try a small "fatty" snack at bedtime to slow digestion and give your gut something to do other than produce bile and churn upon itself. Some people swear by a piece of cheese or peanut butter on a cracker before bed.

Fat in the GI tract signals the "ileal brake" which tells the gut to slow down for food that takes longer to digest. It also will slow bile production later on. But, it has to be just a small snack, not a big greasy burger or something like that, which might trigger diarrhea.

You're going to hate my response, but here goes:

I really don't pay attention. Sometimes I don't eat anything after dinner (which is usually around 7pm). Sometimes I have a bowl of fruit, sometimes a naughty desert, sometimes a handful of cashews. So, sometimes I am up at 3 a.m., most times not.

I don't have a set routine in that regard. I have a couple glasses of wine with dinner. Maybe that makes me not care. All I know is tat I feel well and that is good enough for me.

I hate that answer...jk, its enlightening because it gives me something i can hopefully strive for, i would love to have a bowl of fruit again but right now i still feel like when things are thick its hard and hurts to get out..apt this coming friday though, 19th so we will see what the doc says.

Kathy, i have not tried the metamucil wafers but will give them a go..heck they look tasty lol,Does walmart sell them? if not amazon had some good deals on a box of them.

Ha Ha, pretzels in bed! I used to do that all the time too (when I had my ileostomy), share it with my dogs and call it our "Midnight Snack".

I should probably take up that bad habit again, since last night was really bad for me. I was up 3 times and still had an accident in bed.

I think I am becoming dehydrated since I am having extreme dizzy spells this week.

dgtracy - yes, some walmarts sell them. And some Costco's sell them and they're really cheap if you can get them there. I was doing the 'automatic send' thing from Amazon for a while which is also a good deal. But you should try them before ordering a bunch from them (I'm sure you would have figured that out all by yourself without me telling you... Roll Eyes ) They are a little gluey and tend to stick to one's teeth but the benefits outweigh the negatives.
