Good Morning everyone!
I am so glad I found this site. Yesterday I had an endoscopy and colonscopy for some issues post op from my Total Colectomy 12/30/2011.
I was diagnosed with Pouchitis and I have ulcers there as well. Additionally, they found reflux induced esophagitis and I am iron deficient anemia. The GI felt the anemia may be from the pouchitis/ulcer and esophagitis.
My question is for the past 6-9 months I had watery stools, undigested food passing, fill bowls full of blood, and when would need to go within 20 minutes or less of eating (sometimes I cannot even make it through a meal without going). I would cramp up and barely make it to the bathroom. Is the passing of undigested food a symptom of pouchitis? I wasn't able to ask the GI yesterday and I was curious. I have been working with a trainer for the past year and half and I have no been able to drop weight. This is when I started noticing undigested food passing and other symptoms. We originally thought I was not absorbing nutrients due to a lack of large intestines and this is what prompted the visit. I have been put on Flagyl 3 times a day for 14 days. Will I see solid stools and should the undigested food go away?
Thanks for all your help and answers
Heather
