Sometimes, our depression and anxiety amplifies our symptoms, mking them so much worse than someone without those comorbidities. Not that knowledge helps in any significant way, and I know that one tends to feed the other.

Nevertheless, I do feel for you and I wish I had something wise to tell you. Sometimes outcomes are just lousy and there is no way to know in advance who will fall victim to it.

Are you at the point of considering an ileostomy? If so, don't think of it as failure, but just moving on to the next step. We are here for you.

I underwent what they called situational depression when I first had my j-pouch. I have been on antidepressants for years. I take Elavil for the depression but my GI doc says it is also good for my Irritable Pouch Syndrome. Don't give up. Go tell your doctor about your depression. Antidepressants are not feel good pills, but they do keep you out of that deep dark hole. Blessings on you.
