Could be ahdesion related, even if there is no sign of obstruction. Could also be gallbladder or peptic ulcer or even pancreatitis. I'd also toss umbilical hernia in there, but that would be pretty easy to confirm or rule out.

Proper tests should sort this out.

Jan makes good comments as always. I have a K-pouch and years ago was in the hospital for two days with an obstruction. I had really bad abdominal pain. Have her keep moving around. Walking may help if it is adhesion related. Liquid diet possibly. Hope things get better for her. Keep us posted.

I had extreme pain that felt like my belly button was literally being ripped inwards. It was my gallbladder. Thing is it didn't look bad on tests but once they went to get it, it fell apart in my surgeon's hands.

How is your daughter doing? What did they say in the hospital and have they found out the cause of the pain? Is she any better?

Thank you all for responding. Have been working during days, seeing Angie after work, and trying to get caught up. After no red flags in CAT scan or MRI, blood work, urine...her GI doctor discovers us on floor, (we asked them to notify him when we arrived in ER. He found us by accident visiting other patients), calls Cleveland and Dr. Dietz gives him the go ahead to scope K-pouch (his first time doing this). Pouch is full of ulcers. He took biopsies and is hoping for bacterial infection vs....Angie is allergic to Cipro. Call Dr. Shen and hope to have answer tomorrow. Angie has never had pouchitis. Does it present with ulcers? Oh, and bladder isn't emptying fully, and she passed blood (red but tablespoon or two amount through rectum that doesn't exist.) Any advise or thoughts?

FYI Shen is in China until the 14th so email is best.

maybe you want to move her to cleveland as an in patient right now. might be best to be where all the experts are, including infectious disease docs, etc.

you could get a direct admit through Dr. Dietz's office I am sure. so you wouldn't have to wait through the emergency room

Ulcers in the pouch are not (as far as I know) a sign of pouchitis, they are usually a sign of something else...blood from the rectum that is no longer there is not common either...but put them together and for me they spell a sensitivity to aspirin or other pain meds...has she been on anything lately? For period pain or back pain? Aspirin and other OTC drugs can cause bleeding (they are used as anticoagulants after all) and they can also cause ulcers...its a thought...
