Hi,

I just had surgery on Tuesday April 23, where I was given a temporary ileostomy (I had surgery in 1984 to construct my pouch).

My surgeon performed the surgery to provide me with an ileostomy so as to see if the symptoms I had when connected correctly would be relieved. The best I can describe is that the surgery was done in order to avoid using my pouch. My pouch is distended and this operation would allow my surgeon to see if there is symptom (abdominal pain, back pain, and nausea relief).

Everything has been spectacular until about 6 hours ago.

I get immense (level 10) spasms in the upper abdominal area. These spasms last around 30 seconds and then ease off a bit, to almost no pain, and then repeat; this pattern has been happening every 20 minutes or so.

There is a special line to call that I was given and the nurse suggested I take 650 MG of Tylenol.

This provided pain relief for about an hour and a half; Now the intense pain and spasms have returned;

I am passing a little bit of stool (very liquid), but not enough to ease off the pain. I have no fever. I am also burping a lot.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do? It feels like gas cramps, and unfortunately my body is unable to get rid of the gas; I d have some nausea, but not strong enough to actually vomit. The one factor is the spasms and intense pain; It is unbearable when I get these spasms.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Solomin
