It's been approximately 1 month since my surgery to have my J-pouch removed, I was in the hospital for a week and the day after I got home a fairly large amount of blood came out of the wound were they removed my anus (it was stitched shut during the surgery) since then it has been constantly draining though now it is a tarnish color with a very slight odor. Had a follow up with doctor about 2 weeks ago and he did not seem too concerned and said we just needed to monitor it. It has not gotten any better and I have an appointment with the doctor on Monday. Has anybody else dealt with this and if so what ended up being done?

My wound took about four months and it healed from the inside out. You will see less and less discharge as it heals.
By the way, where did you have your j-pouch removal surgery? Mine was done in 2007 at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston. My surgeon was Dr. Juan Nogueras.

Went for my second follow up today and they removed all my stitches along with prescribing some antibiotics wasn't too much fun driving the 200 miles to get back home. Feels good to be relaxing on the couch, been a long day.
I know how long that drive can be. I live in Merritt Island, FL. I usually get a hotel room after my appointments and drive back the next day.
You'll feel much better now that the stitches are out. Every day it will get better.

Grew up on Merritt Island, went to Tropical elementary, Jefferson Jr high, and MIHS just sold my house in Titusville and I'm temporarily renting the house that I grew up in on Merritt Island.
It truly is a small world... Love living in Merritt Island. Moved down in 1997.
