Just curious how much exercise is good for all of this inflamtion and how much is too much?
I need to walk/climb or jog about an hour a day to get some relief from the severe and debilitating pain that this chronic inflamtion gives me (about 2-4 hrs of pure relief after exercise) but how much is enough and how much is too much?
I am on 400mg Advil morning, noon and night just to keep it moderately under control and the exercise is really the only relif that I get in a day...is there such a thing as too much? Am I doing myself more harm than good if I overdo it?
Right now I am in crazy pain that even the Chiro can't seem to fix and I don't want to start narcotics (they slow my digestion/pouch which is Not a good thing for a k pouch).
I have never tried acupunture but I am pretty ready to try anything including leaches, poision ivy, milk thistle or bee stings...any ideas?

exercise is fine as long as doesn't hurt you while you do it. I think if you feel good doing and afterward you should carry on with it.Also my pains improve with exercises, the ones the fisio gave me and with swimming in the pool 2 times a week.I also use a big ball x relaxing and exercising and that's good too.
in the last few days the pain is getting a bit worse,I think is the change in weather, hopefully it will stabilize and we'll all get better...

Everything is relative. The right amount is what seems right for you. I've found that daily aerobic activity keeps me feeling best, but I get overtired if I try to do too much. Plus, if I am in a flare, I need to stop for a while until the flare subsides. Also, I find I cannot comfortably exercise early in the day. I'm too stiff. My husband can jump out of bed straight to the treadmill. Stretching and range of motion is important too.

So basically, if it feels good, do it. If it makes you feel bad, stop.

It is all about balance.

Thanks Jan,
I seem to be in a permanent flare lately...with all that is going on right now, I cannot even think about making an apt with the Rhumey so that will just have to wait (I have 3 refferals that are sitting on my desk and will never get done)...I need a good hour while my body wakes up before I can workout but then I feel great for about 3 hrs afterwards (my bliss hrs) but by evening I want to pull my hair out...Can't sit, lay or stand...the only comfortable place is in the tub or hanging (by my arms) off of a surface or bar...bed is an exercise in futility for me...no fun at all (rats)...if I start on biologics is it a lifelong endeavour or does it improve something enough to be able to dial back from them later?
So sick of all this pain.

This may be totally not what the doc recommended,so to speak, but I have a lot of back issues and I found a physical therapist who made more difference than any one thing other than meds.

The whole pain thing is so horrible. When I was at my worst, it scared the heck out of me to know what I would do to relieve the pain. If someone had offered me anything to take it away, I very well might have said yes. I guess it was "lucky" I was in too much pain to get up, walk and find something/someone to help.

I am sorry you have such bad pain.
