Appreciate if anybody could tell me what's going on with me.

I'll try to be as short as possible:-

- total colectomy in late 90's due to UC;
- in 2010 / 2011 two labratomires ended up with permenant illo without removing the Jpouch;
- the Jpouch caused some fistulas into the abdomenal wall, it was then when i started to feel strange intermittent blows in my back as if it wants to break it into two pieces also statr to feel some jerks in my right and sometimes left as a reaction to some nerve pushes / contortions (these things take place only after 5 - 10 minutes as I lay down on my bed).

uncontrolled leg jerks are not painfull but when it hits my back i scream like crazy...

all these symptoms dieappear when I sleep on my right side (half the way bz of the illeo)
- this year I removed the Jpouch (1100 g)in one of the most difficult operation (bz of the adheasions; they also put double J (in my urin track).

the doc said that though it was one of the most difficult opeation in his life... he was very pleasant with the results.

he told me that he couldn't remove the last 8 cm but he said that he will remove them from the annal side.
i'd a citiscan after 4 weeks and it shows no fluid collection.

the leg and back jerks desapeared for the first 4 / 6 weeks after the operation then they came back. the doc gave me this awful medicine (Nurona - Gabapentin alone with another one i can't remember its name)
I tooked them (and tolerated their awful side effects) for more than one month.

They reduced the jerks and they almost disappeared.

but now theyt are back almost evey other day,,,,
I can't sleep at night bz i affraid that i might wake up paralyzed..

Appreciate if anyone could tell me what's it is all about and if anybody had the same problem.

thanks a million & God blesses!

I think that these neurological problems are probably a separate disease, unrelated to your GI issues. The fact that they seemed to resolve for a while after surgery I think probably has to do with the effect of anesthesia, rather than the removal of your j-pouch, but I'm not sure about that. The fact that it returned after some time, leads me to think this is either a primary neurological disease, or possibly a complex regional pain syndrome or similar, that could have been triggered by surgery. Or perhaps you have spinal disease that needs to be addressed.

I presume you have seen a neurologist, or was it your GI surgeon who put you on the gabapentin? If you haven't been referred to a neurologist, it certainly is time.

This sounds way beyond what could be solved here, but maybe someone has similar problems that can lead you in the right direction.

You have been through some complicated stuff your entire life!

You might want to have a sleep study done too. During mine one of the things I was diagnosed with was restless legs syndrome (RLS) and it took trying several kinds of medications before we found one that worked well. I need to take it before acupuncture and also when taking tests I have to hold still for, like a MRI. I can't lay still enough, even during the day, to do those things. In late afternoons I often need to take the medication as my legs just get for the lack of a better word, restless.

I hope you find some relief soon.
