A couple days ago I just finished up a round of Cipro and Flagyl for a mild case I pouchitis. Yesterday I started experiencing sharp headache pains at the back of my head and above my right ear. They come and go about every 5 minutes and my vision gets blurry when this happens. I also broke out in a rash on my neck and shoulders that are clusters of fluid filled blisters. And the last thing is my neck feels really stiff and kinked. Anybody experience this before or know what It might be? I have never had a problem with Cipro or Flagyl. I'm thinking about going to the ER since its Saturday.

I would definately head to the ER. Since you were experiencing pain and then broke out with a blistery rash, sounds like shingles to me. I have had them a couple of times and nothing more painful. I would think if you were having an allergic reaction to the cipro/flagyl, it would have happend earlier than after completing the round of meds.

Sometimes drug rashes do not appear until after the drug course has been completed. The migraine type headaches could be coincidental, but the fact that they are rapid cycling, with visual disturbances would worry me more. I'd be less worried that this was an allergic reaction than something going REALLY haywire, like an imminent stroke coming on.

Yeah, I'd go to the ER.

The rash from shingles generally hurts like hell. I've read that it can occasionally be painless, though that's more common in children. The combination of two unusual attributes (painlessness and the weird migraine-like headaches) means (to me) that other diagnoses have to be seriously considered. I would definitely follow up with your doctor without delay. If it's a drug reaction the good news is that you did the most important thing already: you stopped the meds.
