Just when I seem to find what works for me, it stops working. I've cut down on carbs, sugar, no gluten, no dairy and I take psyllium fiber. That used to help but it doesn't anymore. I can't take immodium, it makes me feel sick.

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with charcoal and/or digestive enzymes and if this can keep diarrhea at bay.

Or, any other advice you have. I'm feeling tired and weak and have to drink pedialyte lately to replace the fluids I'm losing.

Lomotil works better for me than Imodium - some people have to crank it up to codeine or DTO (Deodorized Tincture of Opium).

Have you added significant probiotics to your diet? I take 4 packets/day of VSL #3 DS.

Have you been assessed for pouchitis? Many of us simply have to be on antibiotics all the time (it's called antibiotic-dependent pouchitis).

Allison,
I know how you feel. I can take Immodium and it does help some. When I have insurance and can get a dr to prescribe it to me, Lomotil helps tremendously. Also, if you are diagnosed with pouchitis, anti-biotics will help almost immediately. I FINALLY got myself off sweet-tea which is pretty much a staple in Texas! That also helped. Haven't tried the pro-biotics, but they seem to be helping everyone else. Good luck. Hope you find relief soon!
