Hi All,
does this sound like a mild case of pouchitis? starting last thursday, my frequency went up from 6x / day to about 10 - 12x / day and my sense of urgency when i need to go has increased as well.
but my stool is not watery...it is still pretty formed. and my sence of urgency seems to be based on gas (which has definitely increased as well).
some of the past few days i would go each hour from 4pm - 11pm. but, like i mentioned, my stools aren't watery.
it hasn't really improved since thursday and i am doing a candistroy regimen (maybe that is why my frequency is up...but i didn't see that as one of the side-affects). i am on my 4th day of 10 for part 1 (the part where the candida is destroyed).
i think what happened is my system got screwed up because i stopped taking my fiber (was taking metamucil 3x / day) for a couple of weeks leading up to last thursday (was thinking the fiber caused too much gas...so trying to tweak things and see what happens). then all last week i was eating a ton of chocolate (i love me my sweets). i was still taking imodium tablets (2 pills, 3x / day). so i think that not eliminating well due to not taking fiber and ingesting way too much sugar screwed my system up. my thoughts were that i had an issue with candida. is that a form of pouchitis?
like i said, it seems mild comapred to most people that explain their pouchitis symptoms. i don't want to take any cipro if i don't need to. am i going about this the wrong way? is doing the candistroy regimen a waste of time and should i get a prescription of cipro now? my doctor is ready to prescribe me some cipro, but i don't want to take it if i don't really have pouchitis.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.
peace,
mark
