Hello,

I wanted to post something very positive before I continue with the rest of my life and forget about this great forum. Today is 3 months since my takedown and I have been a regular visitor to the site and thank everyone for posting such helpful information.

Life is gradually becoming fantastic again. My energy has come back allowing me to train well at the gym. I've been working full time for 6 weeks. I've started socialising again and am going abroad for a long weekend shortly. The main thing is I'm lucky enough to be in a position where I'm in charge of the J-pouch.

I'm up normally up once a night and go 5 times across the course of the day. Once after breakfast, once after lunch, before dinner, after dinner and before bed. It is now part of my routine and I can hold things for ages if need be. I'm still using some cream (Ostomart Ostoguard with Aloe Vera) maybe twice a day and one loperamide before dinner. As things will continue to improve for up to a year after the surgery I'm looking forward to a med free existence eventually.

The operations were all done in St Marks - Harrow in the UK. They are a specialist unit in the UK with fantastic staff & surgeons.

I had complications after each surgery, but my advice would be to anyone considering ridding themselves of UC to go for the operations provided you can get a surgeon experienced in the procedure.

Good luck and good health to everyone.

David
