Adapting to food is so hard. I had chicken wings at a bar last night...BAD idea. I was up every hour with bad gas and pains.... now I have to go to work and somehow function

Sometimes when I eat food, the results are so bad that I think I gave myself Pouchitis!!! Especially if the pain/gas sticks around for a couple days. Things seem to calm down, so then I think maybe it is not pouchitis? Ugh, who knows. This pouchitis versus pouch adaptation confuses me.

I don't see ANYone having this much trouble with food at 7 months out. Most of the posts I read people are eating everything at this point.

-Why is my pouch not adapting properly?

-How long before I can eat more foods comfortably?
-Do people here have to REALLY restrict their diets with a j-pouch? Or is it just a few foods?

It took a year or more for me. Maybe it was because I didn't change my diet much. Wings at a bar are probably risky even with a colon. I think that when people say they are eating everything, they mostly mean at home. Eating out is a gamble any way you slce it. My first bout of pouchitis was following some bad shrimp (aka food poisoning) after eating out.
