I have gone back and forth on posting, especially since I am not really a poster, more of a reader...but I decided to do it. I am scheduled to have an HSG Friday and YES I have already researched that it can be the worst thing people have gone through. That being said is it safe for J-Pouches? I realize it may be the worst most embarrassing painful thing but is it going to cause further problems? Anyone with experience (and no offense not just horror stories). I am one of the worst when it comes to embarrassment, I make myself physically sick for days before (joy) I guess I am just looking for a little insight from someone who doesn't have the worst possible story. Anyone? Thank you, and I apologize for the shortness- a lot of emotions going on Smiler

Hello, I have been through IVF 3 times (failed) and my MD has told me he will not perform the HSG on me because of my J-pouch surgeries (I had an emergent 3 step).
He is afraid that the liquiud used will leak out into my belly and I will get an infection from it.
Has anyone heard of this? I am dissapointed because I have heard of many people getting pregnant on their own after it.
Thanks
J
Well.... I apparently just like to make everything drama filled when it comes to Drs Wink We arrived for the first appointment and were informed they moved it to the other side of town. I was not irritated just concerned about being late. Well we finally got to the correct facility, had the sonogram, and then the HSG. The HSG was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I did have my husband with me which helped me personally. The Dr really did not explain it in much detail, and my husband had to ask them a couple times to let us see the screen. I asked when I would hear results and they said to just call my Dr. So, after that I was starving so we went across town (we live about an hour from the city) to get some food. We had sat down and got our appetizer when I received a call that I needed to come back right away, when I asked why they explained the contrast may run out and I needed a CT, I asked if I could finish lunch and they said I probably should not. At this point my husband broke every traffic law (just kidding) to get me there. We walked in and they informed us the CT tech had to be called in and had not arrived yet, but she arrived a few minutes later. We were taken back to the CT room and..well we all have been there no big story...and then the dr came out. Turns out I have a communication with my small intestine. Long story short all the contrast from my tubes dumped into my small intestine. I called my Dr afterwards and she is wanting to look at the disk/ my surgical records/ and contact a couple Drs before my next appointment. I think the fun part was after the CT when the tech said "its not super serious"... which received a response from my husband that probably put us on the bad patient list haha
