i know white rice is binding but if you prepare and consume 1 cup of rice with 10 cups of water instead of 2 and boil it til its mush would it still be binding?

Probably not. You would want to cook it per the directions. More water equals more water to pass through you.

im trying to find something that will stay loose but give very little output. im on cipro which seemed to have effected my sphincter and i can only seem to pass a few drops at a time every 10 minutes or so but my docs says if i dont get my pouchitis under control ill be in more trouble. there is no greater trouble than what im in now. im falling apart today and in crisis...
Avoid - Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast, Potatoes, White Bread, Tough Meats.
Drink LOTS of fluids.
Tea
Prune Juice
Soups
Cantaloupe/High Water Content fruit for fiber (just chew it very well)
Whole Wheat Bread
Tender Salmon
You can find lots of options on the internet.
Walking/Exercise also helps to move things along.
Also, not sure if you are on any pain meds. They tend to slow down the bowels so avoid them if possible.

One Question.
Did the constipation start as soon as you started Cipro? I am wondering if this may be a stricture? If you had pain/constipation before the Cipro, then it could be?
That is when there is narrowing preventing stool from exiting. If yes, then your surgeon would need to do a dilation to stretch things out. Just a minor outpatient procedure (dont under sedation). You can resume normal activities, once the sedations wares off.

i assumed it was constipation right after cipro but even when im loose im straining but only after the cipro. i just got scoped and no stricture and no problems but pouchitis and cuffitis. should i stop my once a day cipro again and wait to talk to doc about alternatives or should i stay the course? last time i stopped it for 3 days and got no relief. so many people have said it messes them up. why do docs deny these things?
See my other post. I would stay on an antibiotic as you should for 7-10 days. Consider switching to Augmentin?
should a half dose be taken twice as long? 500mgs cipro once instead of twice.
