Anyone know if it's OK to continue taking Loperamide while breastfeeding? I was advised by all my doctors to continue taking it while I was pregnant (I wasn't putting weight on so I think they thought it was more important the baby got the nutrients it needed) even though most of the information online says not to, so I'm not sure if the same is true of breastfeeding. I think I'm inclined not to take it but if anyone has any experience or advice I would appreciate it!
Ant1982,

I chose not to take the Loperamide during pregnancy since it was category C, but honestly, I can't remember when I started taking it after my son was born. I think I waited until my 6 week checkup with my OB. I wanted to know what his normal poops were like to see if the medicine was effecting him. My OB said the only real concerns were if it would be stopping him up or causing him gas. I started using it and monitored his BMs and gas. There was no change at all so then I started using it again. I only use one a day at nighttime though so it wasn't very much.
