Need to vent and get some advice!

Me being me, I miscalculated and ran out of Percocet 3 days ago. I've been taking them since my surgery to help with my pain and to slow down my K pouch, what I didn't know is just how much it was helping. On them, I had little to no pain, with little gas. I have been having issues with valve leakage, but I've left the pouch on perm drain until I can see Dr Cohen when he gets back on the 17th from his break, until then I'm screwed, can't even get in to see my family doctor until Thursday. These last three days have been absolute hell, gas and cramps that are out of control, bleeding, horrible nausea and major pain! I've been trying everything, but my usual bag of tricks just aren't working (Imodium, stool thickeners, Tylenol 3, etc...). Anyone experience this, is so, what did you do? I'm stuck right now, can't go to emerg (no doctors knowledgeable with K pouches) and can't yet see my family doctor (who will give me a Px for Percs). Can't go to the Pharmacy, they've recently restricted access to Px pain meds to try to stop drug abuse. I really don't give a care if they think I should stop the Percs (usually take it twice daily, at 3pm, then around 10pm), my gut (what's left of it) obviously needs them still, and no one knows how much pain I'm in, or just how fed up and frustrated I am, will this ever stop??? AGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Thanks for letting me vent, if you have any advice please feel free to share, thanks!

My nurse told me that phenegran enhances painkillers and to take one with my percs if the pain killer isn't working as is. And with the nausea, sounds like you need it.

My most recent surgeon gives a lower dose than my other surgeon did. And this was a more painful surgery. And my nurse was treating an open wound and could see the pain on my face before she even got in the house good. That's why she told me the secret. She even said that if I didn't have nausea med to help, take benedryl because it can enhance the pain killer too. Maybe that will help when you take the tylenol 3.

Finally got an early apt to see my family doctor today, got my Px for pain meds, all is right with the world again (well, minus my leaky valve). I just can't believe what a HUGE difference my beloved Percocet can make. Don't really care if people think I'm addicted to it (some people have called me a drug addict, the nerve!). I take them faithfully twice daily at 3pm and 10pm, if that makes me a drug addict, then fine, I'm an addict, but an addict that feels better, not stoned, at all, but it's the best med, for me, to stop all my insane body and GI pain. I'd much rather take a few pills so I can function normally then not have them and be in agony all day. Besides, I don't drink at all, I'm allergic to THC aka pot, and I've endured more then most would in a life time! Thanks for letting me vent guys, you're the best!

Hey sweetie,
Quick question...What kind of pouch pain are you having and why are you taking stool thickeners?
At this point there should no longer be any pouch pain other than something related to the stoma/valve and the fact that it isn't doing well...but your pouch should be absolutely painless by now...if it isn't then that might be a clue as to what is going on inside your body (could the pouch be off the wall? that could cause pouch pain, or a hernia...?)...as for the bubbly pouch, that is not normal unless you are chugging milk or milk products...it sounds like you may have a case of pouchitis or a stomach flu in which case you should be on antibiotics or some other meds...peptobysmol my help you for the bubbly-gassy pouch...I think that you may have 3 different things going on in there...a pouch-itis kind of thingy, a pouch-down type of situation that could cause the leaks and the pain and or something hurting your abdomen...
All of the problems should be addressed...but you should not be thickening up the contents of your pouch at all.
Hugs and feel better
