It's been over 8 weeks since takedown and have been doing relatively well. Today I was really constipated and around 6 pm I started to go without being constipated, but there is blood in stool. It's not blood coming from hemorrhoid it's actually blood in the stool. Not beet red,a bit darker. I am getting nervous.... I am hoping by morning it will go away.. I don't have any cramping either. I've probably went around 5 times with blood in stool in z 6 hour period. Has this happened to anyone? What could if be?

I also took a 1 lomitil night before and I think that could have contributed to constipation, but the blood I can't figure out?
Since you recently had takedown, it could be old blood. If you continue to see it, call your surgeon's office.
Called surgeon and spoke to resident. He said let's wait and see and monitor it. If it gets worse, come in. I guess they are not that concerned because I don't have any pain. It is still really concerning seeing blood in stool. It reminds me of my uc days. I am so scared, I hope it's nothing, but I don't know...
Blood is gone, thank goodness. The resident thought it was probably due to constipation. Anyway, I have been drinking grape juice and that helps.
My DD had blood and has had it intermittently since takedown. A couple times they thought it was pouchitis. We did a round of Cipro once and it did nothing for the bleeding. After 2 months enough was enough and they wanted to try Cipro again which I refused. They did a flex sigmoidoscopy and found a staple in the rectum was causing the intermittent bleeding. Regardless of cause it is a good idea to know why it is happening rather than just taking the antibiotics like they wanted us to do. Killed her flora and it is so important in avoiding the actual pouchitis. I am not a medical doctor or nurse but I would want to know the cause.
I'm currently having intermittent episodes of bloody stool (occuring over the last 3-4 months) which we're in the process of trying to sort out. I'm presently being treated for pouchitis though a scope in September did not show inflammation (I also don't think I have pouchitis). I've had bleeding from time to time since takedown, but until recently it's always been bright red blood after a BM and never mixed in the stool. My GI is away until the 7th and have to call to follow up when he's back. I had a culture for c.diff last week which I assume was negative because the lab has not called me. If I find out anything I will let you know; might give some clues as to what is going on with yourself. It could be that you are dealing with cuffitis; that would seem to be the most common cause of bleeding. You could also have a bit of a stricture, and straining could have caused it to bleed.
I have had many periods of bleeding. I have antibiotic dependent pouchitis and cuffitis. After some severe bleeding recently they did a scope and found that the tissue in the pouch was inflamed and friable and bled when touched. They found a particularly bad area and cauterized it as it kept bleeding. There was major blood loss but then I am pregnant and they felt that made it worse. It's just been part of the whole thing for me - I have bleeding almost every day and was instructed to come in when it gets bad for more treatment. I get blood in the stool and it comes out after too. I have found being careful with what I eat helps (nuts tend to make the bleeding worse or any rough stuff). Good luck !
