I had my take down recently and am very confused. I only go to the bathroom about 4 times a day and never wake up to go in the night. My out put is pretty firm and I don't take immodium. I wake up in the morning and don't have to go to the bathroom till about 9. A couple hours after I wake. I did not have uc but per cancerous cells in my colon. I had a proctocolectomy with the j pouch. I thought I would be going to the bathroom more especially since I eat anything I want including salad. I can also pass gas regularly during the day. I always read such stories on this site of those who are having a ruff time, is this normal or should I be worried something is not working right that I don't have many bm on a day?

I wouldn't be concerned. You sound very fortunate!
Yes, you are very lucky enjoy your j-pouch. I have talked to others who said the only thing they notice is a few more bm's a day. Congratulations.
That would be awesome!!!
That sounds exactly like me!!! I was worried too but it's good to hear someone else is doing so good as well . The only difference for me is I'm only difference 3 weeks from takedown and i can only fart while on the can. LOL
I was worried too since i was in hospital for a week waiting for my bowels to wake up.
I'm so happy that my pouch seems to like it's job!!
Congrats to you too on a nicely working system.

Believe it or not, I think most j pouchers only use the bathroom a few times a day. It's just that you will never hear about it because this is a support forum so many folks on here are having issues. Congrats on having an easy, well behaved j pouch!
consider yourself one very fortunate person!! stop worrying..get on with your life..on this site are generally people who have issues(10 to 15 percent)..but 90 per cent of folks are quite happy with results..yours sounds the best of the best..enjoy

other thing i wanted to say most pouchitis problems are people who had uc...we are coming into this with an autoimmune disease..can change the outcome or healing time..and results...
I'm 3 months post takedown and I've only experienced 3-4 BM's a day. I was ready for the 10-12 that my surgeon warned me would happen but it never has. I have, however, woken up once or twice during the night since the surgery but the good news is that I just slept straight through the last 3 nights without waking up! I hope it continues I feel nothing but very fortunate because I too see the people on this forum having such troubles. I have to just skip over the bad stuff and only try and read the supportive experiences on here otherwise you worry too much about things that may never happen.
Nope...nothing to be worried about. As mentioned before, most people do just fine with their j-pouch. Unfortunately not everyone is as lucky right after take-down, and this forum is a great place for those seeking help in difficult circumstances. It's also a great place to celebrate successes though, and I'm happy to hear you are doing so well!
It took me at least six months to a year to get to that point.
You are indeed blessed!
You are indeed blessed!
Nothing is wrong with you!!!! You are so luck and blessed! I don't have to take any supplements to bulk my stools either but I had a really rough time after surgery! Count your blessings and will repeat there is nothing wrong! You are one of the lucky ones!!!!
I am very happy for you!!! Happy healing, I am sure you deserve it.
Wow you are very lucky.
A good day for me within a 24 hour period is going to the bathroom 8 times a day. Sometimes, I get up once a night, but ususally is 2 times.
Then when the alarm rings I go again. I eat breakfast and go again. So that is 3 times if I go once at night.
I eat lunch, I go again, Before I drive home from work, I go again. That is 5 times.
I eat dinner, I go again. Then I usually go 2 more times before I go to bed. That's 8.
Of course I go so often because 5 years after my take down, I had a major bowl obstruction. I used to actaully count how many time I went and after the obstruction, it was off the chartes. Counting only stressed me out and aggravated me so I stoped.
But for this post, I shared.
I wish I went as often as you did.
