Tom has 24 more days of IV Vanco. Levels were too high, so it has been reduced to 1,250 mg, 2x/day. Nevertheless, it is causing stomach pain and maybe the beginning of pouchitis. A post-hospitalization follow-up appointment with internal medicine has been requested by the infectious disease doc, but has to wait for ins. authorization Mad. Other than increasing probiotics, not sure what to do or ask for. It feels like low level chemo. &#%@.

Stopped the infusions altogether Jan 11 (5 weeks), because they were making him feel very bad, and infection seemed to be gone. Four days later, it appears to be coming back. Infectious disease doc ordering IV infusions to resume with Daptomycin ASAP. Alhough side effects may be similar, hoping we can hold off infection long enough for the bone to heal before they have to remove the plate. Going for x-ray today to check the status of that. Naturally the foot surgeon is out of the country for several weeks. Murphy's Law still fully in effect.
