I've been having some pretty serious pain with inflamed back end and pain when going. What I would like is some kind of treatment along the barrier cream or sitz baths but I have just been to the doctor and they have prescribed enough morphine and codeine for a family of four for three months.

It just seems they throw pain medication at the problem everytime and not anything to prevent the problem.

I have literally just picked up 500 30mg codeine tablets and 400ml of morphine sulphate, not to mention 500 Gabapentin capsules. I realise some people have problems getting prescribed opiates and I should be grateful but I hate the withdrawals.

Well, what is the diagnosis? What exactly is thecause of your pain? If you have something like a fissure, you need more local treatment, and I am not sure codeine and gabapentin would do anything for that pain. Narcotics are nice for slowing the gut though, so in an around about way, it can help. The gabapentin (Neurontin) I am at a loss though...

That's really awful. I wonder how long your doctor would cope without screaming for some analgesia. It really annoys me.

There is a time and a place for analgesia and for your doc to refuse you it when your suffering is bad form.

I understand this arguments a little against my original point but I meant that on this occasion my problem could have been addressed without opiates.

I would seriously consider tackling your doc on this subject. Don't suffer, don't ever suffer.
