would a food forum discussing pros cons dos and donts be a good idea or no?

It could be helpful to newcomers, just so they don't have to learn the hard way.
i am a newby and would love the help.
It's a nice idea but the problem is everyone has different pros and cons and dos and donts. For example someone may be able to eat pizza a week after takedown with no trouble and it may be awful for someone else. It really just boils down to trial and error when it comes to food.

i totally agree no two j-pouchers are the same but we can begin to see patterns that may work for all and of course because its trial and error we will be taking chances anyway not necessarily because it worked for someone else. i just think it could be a great tool and very interesting...
You may be able to map something out in the poll forum that people can cast a vote on.
I don't believe that there are any patterns with all jpouchers; it's trial and error for all of us. What may bother you, never bothered me and vice versa. What I found helpful in the early days was to keep a food log and track transit time and comfort that way. It helped a lot.

Ditto, it is so individual, that other than a basic guideline to get you started, there really is no rule book. There is a link at the top of the page for dietary guidelines. It is old, but still relevant. It was the same article my surgeon gave me back in 1995:

thank you jan. i missed that...
I agree with the others that it is a very personal journey in terms of diet. I kept a food diary with times of day and what I ate/drank. It was very helpful at first. There were things I could eat in the morning, but not at night.
