I am super excited about my first pregnancy with jpouch (procedure completed in 1999) I am 5 weeks pregnant

I have had abdominal discomfort (tenderness - though not sure I would call it cramping... ) and about 3 times when emptying my bowel light pink spotting when I peed...

Is the tenderness normal for jpouch pregnancies?? Keen to hear your experiences!!!

Hi, congrats on your pregnancy!! Although I haven't yet been pregnant with a j pouch, I can tell you that with my second pregnancy I had spotting off and on throughout the entire pregnancy. It freaked me out to say the least but my OB (high risk) was not concerned at all. She recommended that I stay well hydrated which actually helped a lot. I'm thinking the reasoning is that the cervix is extra sensitive at this time with all the extra blood flow and any sort of dryness can cause possible irritation. However, if it turns into actual bleeding, that would be more concerning.

As for the abdominal discomfort, completely normal. Everything is starting to stretch slowly down there. It's amazing the changes that our bodies know to do.

Good luck to you and best wishes for a healthy pregnancy!

I know its scary, and I hope your doctor can reassure you.

I had a lot of spotting in the first trimester (pink, red, brown) and pains, particularly before I emptied. I was so scared the whole time but now am 26 weeks and things are still going and no more spotting.

Definitely agree re the keeping hydrated part - that helps.

Good luck and congratulations Smiler!

Thank you so much to both of you for your notes, I went to my GP this morning and she has said that my tummy is definitely tender but too early to really check inside. I didn't finch or jump when she was poking and prodding so she wasn't too concerned.

I am going to have a dating ultrasound in 10 days (I will be 7 weeks by then) and she has said just to keep watch and call her if I notice any changes in pain or increased spotting or if I notice any blood.

I am going to try to stay positive till then, though it is just so stressful when you don't know whats going on in there!

Thanks again, Cid
