Are there things that you used to be doing that you have stopped doing since the surgery? I know that I was scared to start exercising and go out with friends post surgery. Perhaps looking at the things you use to do/enjoy and try to introduce them slowly. It does get better and if you ever need support don't be afraid to message me.

to be honest i havent done much of anything toward the end of my colitis and i continue to not do anything and i continue to fear foods. to me i feel like i still have colitis and even though i was warned i could feel this way i just cant grasp the possibility of getting better. i just had my first bm of the day and im already in bed dreading the rest of the night. i guess i fooled myself into thinking i could start living my life again a few weeks after takedown but with these cluster bms i feel paralyzed. me and my wife have a lot of living to do. when is it our turn???

I am 5-1/2 months out from takedown and you will give it time. That is what you need, right now. Some bodies adjust faster than others.
Mine is still adjusting but I am getting out more. I would venture out a little during the day but my nights were terrible like yours. I am still waking up 2 times a night but the pain isn't as bad. The j pouch has to stretch and I think that is the problem for us.
Be patient that is all we can do, for now.
There is light at the end of this dark tunnel!

Honesty, I'm going to go out on a limb here... You're single right? Nothin' wrong with that. Butttt, to give you a bit of unsolicited advice: if you are interested in attracting a male or female (whatever floats your boat), and keeping that male or female as a friend or otherwise, being a downer 110% of the time is totally UN-sexy, man!! I mean we all have our ups and downs, highs and lows, but people who are CONstantly miserable and whiny and want to drag everyone else down into suffering with them kinda makes people run away. And hey nothing wrong if you like being a miserable lonely wretch, but yeah confidence and a little positivity are SOoooo much sexier. Damn straight.
I have had my J-Pouch since 1994 and I too have days and nights where I don't sleep very well, similar to you. Every night I get up once to use the bathroom.
When the alarm rings to go to work, I have to use the bathroom again. Then shower and eat a light breakfast then use the bathroom again before I leave for work.
Prior to going to lunch, I use the bathroom again. After lunch, I use the bathroom 2 more times, the last before I leave to go home. I arrive home, I use the bathroom again, eat a light supper, again to the bathroom, finally, I use the bathroom once more before I go to sleep.
Now what I just described above is a normal typicall day for me. I used to count how many times I went in a 24 hour period. I don't anymore but felt I had to share my day. Do I get annoyed by it? No, not anymore. I look at it that these are the cards God dealt and I havve to just see it through.
And when I am going through Pou****is, it just compounds the problem. Then it becomes annoying because I have short sleep and I can go without food, but sleep, then I have a short fuse.
What has helped me is Canesa Supp. Perhaps your doctor can write you a script.
We have to live now and look at the labels now with anything you buy to eat. Stay away from fast foods like McDonalds which is just junk. Soda, no, that causes Gas.
