I have experienced numerous bowel obstructions with extreme cramping and very little, if any output. For the last few days I have felt like I might be having another obstruction but I have had no cramping or pain as before. My incision is somewhat tender (this incision is 6 years old) and somewhat painful. I have been going to the bathroom but it's not like it usually is. I went to the ER last Sunday thinking I had an obstruction but the X-ray did not show one & was sent home on Flagyl. My abdomen is soft (except around the incision) and I feel like I have to go but it's a struggle to get something out. Could this be an obstruction. Or constipation since there is no real cramping? Is it possible to have constipation with a jpouch? Should I return to the ER for another X-ray? Any suggestions on how to get it moving again? Home remedies maybe? Should I try drinking some mag citrate? I have an appt. to see a dr on Thursday morning...can this wait until then? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I have been doing the clear liquids & things seem to be getting better. Still no cramping or major pain. However, I woke up this morning with a swollen, hard lump around the incision near my belly button.....could this be the stricture you mentioned or a hernia? All I know is I am so tired of feeling poorly! I am heading to the Cleveland Clinic next month to see Dr. Remzi as I have a possible fistula....hopefully he can figure this all out!! Thanks!!

You could have a partial obstruction. Maybe stay on clear liquids and try moving around a lot, yoga poses, stretching, twisting, walking, heating pads, hot bath, hot shower, massaging abdomen and back. Anything to try and get things moving.

Oh and xrays dont necessarily show obstructions or blockages. Dont know why er gave you flagyl. That might be causing more problems.
