My wife has had a j-pouch for about 15 years (aged 32). She had fairly regular bouts of pouchitis. Recently she became quite sick and got metro/cipro as usual. However she could not keep to medicines down and continued to be sick. It got to the stage of her eyes and skin turning yellow before she was admitted to hospital (3 days ago).
the doctors say she is showing signs of hepatitis, but do not know where the infection came from. One doctor mentioned it could be autoimmune hepatitis.
Does anyone have any experience of this? the docs are still trying to rule out other possibilities. One has said liver damage may have been called by antibiotics over the years.
We are quite worried as we have a young baby and toddler and they are missing their mummy!
