gmarie's J-pouch removed

Sorry I don't have the answer, just wanted to wish her well. Hope someone is able to help with an answer for her.

Please tell gina this is from liz11. I am happy to hear her surgery is completed, but sorry about the Crohns. Please tell her right now to put her brain on nothing other than healing from surgery. She needs to focus on following all the rules in the hospital from the docs and nurses, she needs to get moving and walking, and recover from this huge surgery she just had. Please tell her to not worry about other things right now. Let the doctors do that for her. She needs to focus just getting well so she can go home. hugs to her.

I agree with Liz, right now the focus should be on recovering from surgery. It is likely she will need maintenance medication for her Crohn's, but not necessarily biologics. The good news I guess is that she now has confirmation of the reason for the failed j-pouch.

Hello all. I am back home from the surgery. I have pain the the incision area and what I hope is just trapped gas! I also have some nrrve pain but I guess pat for the corse. Surgeon said I had some adhwsions and one small incisional hernia which he fixed. Bowles work up couple of days after sugery the bladder on the other hand took longer. I have my butt staples out on Tuesday. I do feel that I have been hit by a Mack truck, but no more so that the first 2 surgies 7 years ago.

I am so sorry to hear about the removal of your pouch. I was originally diagnosed as having UC but I too have Crohn's. I have had 5 operations over the years but I am fortunate that I still have my pouch. Once I found out I had the Crohn's I was put on Pentasa which is not a biologic. I am feeling much better and this is the first time I have not had a bleeding episode or Pouchitis in years since I first had my pouch. It is keeping me in remission pretty well. The doctor did say if I have a bleeding epidode and I don't get better we have stronger medicines now. I assume he was talking about the biologics you are speaking of. He said after you get back in remission you would go back on the Pentasa. I have been on the Pentasa for about 2 years and have not needed the stronger meds but it is nice to know they are available.

I'm so sorry she's back in the hospital. Sounds like ileus. Hopefully they'll be able to help resolve it with minimal invasiveness. This has happened to quite a few people.
