hi reading some threads made me think about itching isuues..i am a antibiotic dependent pouchitis person..i am doing pretty good on my present antibiotic but throughout my condition(6 years..i get itching from time to time ..but its not constant and i really never paid attention to it much having worse things to deal with..i know when my antibiotic is starting not to work i go much more frequently and that can cause itchy feeling inside thats maddening..must say my only relief is i use vaseoline(my go to relief)and put it on my finger and have to manipulate or finger it to deal with itch..but other times when things are going well with pouch as to output etc..i might have some itching almost any place down there again i just use manipulation with my vaseoline as best i can if need be ..question is could that be yeast problem? or does yeast infection remain constant and would you have some kind of discharge?..i have neither of those things..how do you know you have yeast infection or issues?

thanks

Hi Rebecca,I`m sorry to hear of your predicament.I`ve had a severe yeast infection,I`m male by the way, that has not responded to any kind of treatment,in the fold of my belly and inside both creases of my groin area. All this mess happened after I gained about 80lbs. Eeker through 9 years of not working anymore a complication of my jpouch surgery and just decaying on my couch not trying to lose weight or anything. The end result being like I said a very very severe yeast infection which requires daily bathing and trying to keep the areas dry,no easy task. There are quite a few times when I feel like I`m a filthy animal who should not even be on this planet but usually my common sence kicks in and I just carry on the best I can.You might think I`m all alone but I `m not I have the best wife in the world and 4 kid`s who adore their "big fat teddy bear".And still with all this love that surrounds me day in and day out it is still quite hard somedays to put on a smile and pretend that life is one big bowl of cherries.I `ve been on Cipro now going on 5 years and I know all about the dreaded butt itch.Get this, because of this antibiotic regiment I`ve been on it also caused me to have a yeast infection wrapped around my vocal chords try to figure that one out. That all cleard up thanks to antibiotics,I`m telling you it never ends Roll EyesSometimes I feel like that old song they used to sing on HeeHaw back in the 70`s."If it tweren`t for bad luck I`d have no luck at all gloom, dispair and misery on me. WinkGod bless and I hope you get the relief you seek.

I cannot speak to female yeast infection issues but as to the male yeast infection issues, the sensitive areas or areas prone to infection are the legpits, the armpits, the groin and the area underneath the scrotum, because these areas all get moist during the day. I had a bad infection in all of the above areas in 2010, which took months to get rid of. I ultimately had to take anti-fungal pills. Since then the following regimen has kept it away:

1. Copious drying of these areas after showering. I use a blow dryer until the skin is dry to the touch.

2. Periodic application of Zeabsorb-AF antifungal powder in these areas, after drying them.

3. Absorbent high quality boxer style briefs. I bought a special kind that is designed to keep you cool and dry. I believe it is made by Jockey.
