Like food choices, this also varies from poucher to poucher. I drink 20oz of coffee in the morning and don't drink again until I hit the gym at 4pm where I can drink up to 32oz of water while working out. Before bed I drink 4-8oz just to take my vitamins with. However, my diet consists most of foods with high water content; fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, cottage cheese, and yogurt. Do take in consideration water content of foods, but more importantly you need to pay attention to how you feel in order to gauge your hydration needs. Don't over look electrolyte beverages on sweltering days if you are active.

As others have mentioned, this varies considerably. You may also notice that as time passes, your body adapts and you don't need to drink as much as you did in the beginning. Another caution is actually not to drink TOO much water. It's possible to flush out necessary electrolytes and nutrients by drinking too much. Although it sounds a bit vulgar, at good way to gauge is to pay attention to how much you are peeing. Initially after my coletomy, I was lectured by the nurses and told to drink, drink, drink, which I did. I was also constantly running to the bathroom to pee, at least once an hour, so obviously I didn't need to drink quite that much, and I adjusted accordingly. These days, I always carry water with me, though I don't drink constantly. On a typical workday I would usually drink the following:

2 cups of tea in the morning
A low sodium vegetable cocktail at lunch (for potassium, mostly).
I have a bottle of water on my desk which I sip through the afternoon as needed.

In the evenings, I usually drink another cup of tea after dinner, and then usually herbal tea before bed. And again, I sip water as needed, and I take one to bed with me to keep on my nightstand, as I do tend to wake up with a dry mouth.

Otherwise, I let my thirst guide me. I will obviously drink more on warmer days, when I'm working out, or riding my horse.

I drink somewhere between 1 and 2 liters of seltzer daily. Water is too bland for me, but the carbonation of seltzer is nice. Since it's just bubbly water, my doctor said it's fine. I never have a problem with the carbonation making me extra gassy or anything.

I also usually drink another 20 oz. of a different drink (iced tea, lemonade, soda).
