Hi, I'm very new to all this so i'm hoping im posting this in the right place... i had emergency surgery about 7 months ago when my colon perforated, not fun, and since then i have had an ileostomy. I am hoping to have the j pouch one day but i am just so scared about all the complications that can happen. My main worry at the moment is the rectal bleeding. Although i dont pass stool normally anymore i still get mucus and quite a bit of blood about once or twice a day through the back passage. Is this normal or should i be worried? Also does it mean that i will have problems when i have my j pouch op?

Thanks for listening, Sally x

I hope I am explaining this right but the reason may be that you probably still have your rectum. When they do the j pouch procedure, they remove the rectum. You may still have the bleeding because of that especially if your UC (I'm assuming you had UC) was effecting your rectum. The passing of mucus is definitely normal.
