anyone have any info about getting a fecal transplant in the Cleveland area? Dr Shen says it's what I may need. Cleveland clinic says insurance companies will not pay for donor screening. Donors doc is too scared to order labs for fear of messing them up. Insurance company said they need coding to figure out test costs.

This seems like a simple procedure. Test patient, which I am positive, test donor, perform fecal transplant. Seems a lot less expensive than a hospital stay. Anyone had this done Before?

I did a transplant at home using my son. I did it for a week. For pouchitis . It did not do a thing and I found it very time consuming as you need to hold it in and with a pouch its a challenge. I did not get him tested as he was my son. I don't recommend this but I was desperate and Did not have the extra money for testing. My doctor gave me a prescription but his insurance did not cover.

Now for c diff that was different although the antibiotics kicked in before the transplant was scheduled. insurance paid for cause . My daughter was suppose to be my donor but her test came back positive for E. coli even though she was never sick.. That is why you should always get tested.
