Can somebody please tell me what to call this so I can research it? In 2011 I had a revision to remove the part of my pouch that grew up out of the pelvis, up my right abdomen and across my upper abdomen. Very successful surgery. Dr. said it was a rare condition. Hardly ever happens, and that it wouldn't grow back.

I've noticed a puffiness on my right side and Dr ordered pouchogram. Haven't met with him yet, but saw the X-ray as it was happening. There it was growing up the right side again. Anyone have any ideas what's is called? Why it happens, how to prevent it from happening again? Thanks.

Thanks Jan! You know, he didn't use a term last time. He was a bit vague on that. But You are right. I will ask him specifically when I get to see him, in two weeks.

If it is a mega or dilated pouch, is that the sort of condition that just happens over and over to a person because that's the way their particular body works? Just wondering if anyone out there has had this at all. Thanks!
I would not think so. There is a specific, physical reason for this. Usually it is some form of chronic obstruction or lack of normal gut motility that prevents normal forward movement. The result is a backup of bowel contents and dilation.

If you don't have strictures, I would tend to think that this is a motility issue and that is why it is recurrent.

But, I am just thinking out loud here. I really don't know what is specifically going on with you.

I would ask him to write down the terminology if I were you. It is easy to get "office amnesia" from the anxiety and stress of everything going on during an appointment.
