So I will start my second IVF cycle on January 2nd, one day after my 43rd birthday. I have a new doctor who seems to have much higher success rates and has been much more positive through these last few months. I am really nervous and anxious, its so hard to stay calm and relaxed even when you know that its best. It is also really hard for me this time because we have decided not to tell our friends and family. It was so hard going back to work and telling everyone that the ivf did not work, so hopefully this time we have made the right decision to keep it just between us. So anyway ladies, I could really use some support and encouraging words.

After my first IVF cycle (which was successful), I did a frozen cycle which was not successful. My mother's reaction to me even trying again and her attitude throughout the process made me decide not to share info about the next cycle with her. So my second fresh cycle I did not tell anyone except my best friend who was also going through IVF at the same time. WHile it was hard not to talk about it, it definitely felt less stressful. Until it worked and then I had to tell everyone and some people were upset I hadn't told them (my mom especially). But I was clear with her why I didn't tell her. Anyway, I think keeping it to yourself is a good idea.

It sounds like you feel good about this dr and clinic and that's the best start. I wont tell you to relax because it just isn't possible. I will tell you to keep busy. The more active you are the less time you have to think only about the cycle. Go out to eat a lot, see a lot of movies, do things that you won't be able to do for a long time if the cycle works Smiler

My second fresh cycle worked. My kids are now 7 and 4 1/2. I was 34 and 37 when I delivered. The clinic I used had a whole separate practice for patients over 40 and they had great success rates - I hope your clinic helps you to a successful cycle!
