Hi, its been exactly 2 months after my pouch surgery and reversal. My surgeon said that every month should get a little bit better. I've been keeping track of my bowel movements and I average at 9 a day and some days are okay and some days are terrible. Its been this way since the beginning of January with no improvement. Should I be concerned?

The doctor said that if I feel that I'm not improving that I should contact him right away which is why I need advice.

It sounds like you are right on track. You should see an improvement in coming months. I still have days where I can go up to 10x in a 24 hour period and I'm 2.5 years in to this. Those are the days though that maybe I ate too much (or something bad!) or was under a lot of stress. My typical day now is usually 4 to 6x a day.
My jpouch is almost 19 years old & I still go an average of 9 times if I am home. I can hold it for hours if I am out however. Mind over matter?

Chew your food well and eat a low residue/ fiber diet. Rice & pasta, meat, slow things down. If you eat veggies choose carrots & potatoes that are cooked well. Sometimes dairy can slow things down too. For me it can backfire sometimes. My body doesn't like milk but does tolerate yogurt. Sugar has also been disagreeable for my jpouch recently. Go figure. Keep away from caffeine & carbonated drinks & drink lots of water. You can keep a food journal if you are having a hard time figuring out what things agree with your new anatomy.

Try Immodium or Lomotil (meds).

It just takes time.
For sleeping better at night you can try eating dinner either earlier or later, you will need to experiment. I get up at least 2X per night, sometimes 3. Some tricks I use to be able to get back to sleep is that I don't turn the light on. I also don't let my brain start working. And most importantly, I get aerobic exercise before dinner which completely wears me out; falling back asleep is never a problem and I feel completely well-rested every morning.

I'm actually finding that the later I eat the better. I tried having dinner a 5pm and by midnight I'm so hungry and my system is so empty that I really can't sleep at all. But if I have a big lunch at 2pm and don't eat until 10pm or 11, then I can get solid sleep till 5am, but would stay up for a couple of hours with 2 to 4 bm's then back to sleep at 7am and wake up at 10am.

Still tiring but its not bad.
