holy cow does my stomach hurt. Drug pump helps but what is it with hiccups and clearing throat that makes you feel your going to bus your stitches? Only position that seems bearable is on your back.

It's brutal, I completely understand. Did you have open surgery or laparoscopic? I had open, and I had a long line of staples down my midline. I was worried about bursting them too. Sneezing, coughing, trying to sit up... all terrible. The pain pump does help, and don't be afraid to use it as needed. It's well regulated and monitored, so you can't give yourself too much medication, so if you are concerned about that, don't be. The hospital staff will also taper you down as necessary. The only thing I can say is, as awful as it feels now, this too will pass! I was actually surprised that the very intense pain was already subsiding within a few days. Hang in there!
Brutal is the word. Yes. Keep pushing the button.
Be aware of abcesses...
Once those staples are removed you will be much more comfortable! This, too, shall pass!
