Willy,
I think at this point, your system, your pouch, anal muscles are still adapting to their new function. Is normal and I experienced this feeling for months after my jpouch surgery. Don't be afraid. The human body will adapt slowly to this new situation and you will start feeling more and more normal, is just too early yet.
In my case it made me feel better to wear adults pull ups in case of an accident, which is also normal and part of the process.
Good luck, take a deep breath and relax, you'll be fine, trust me!

exercise your muscles....don't just go everytime you get the urge....hold it longer than is comfortable and gradually hold it longer and longer...you need to get used to holding back a little stool and gradually more and more..it worked for me
Absolutely agree with Daleer. I did exactly that and it made a big difference. It will be uncomfortable but well worth it. Just over a year out and very happy with how my pouch is doing!
Thank you all I love this site ....
I also had Take Down surgery exactly one month ago, I still have the following
1) Rectal pain
2) Anal Fissure
3) Pressure to go
4) 20+ BM's /day
5) Cramping/Spasms
Please advise if the above are normal, how long before I get some relief?
I've been 4 weeks out since surgery I Faithfully take my Lomotil 4 times a day. I only eat small meals I don't eat past 6 and for the last two nights praise the Lord I have slept and only gotten up two times. So excited about this. I am learning to hold it longer to see if that helps but so far the first month was tough but now my body is getting used to it and I'm getting used to my new body. I'm hoping I get some of my energy back how is everybody's energy level thank you
My doctor also gave me a prescription for lidocaine that is really nice to use with their cream I had my surgery at the Cleveland Clinic and they gave me but cream that's amazing
Take Imodium(once a day), eat a banana a day and exercise those muscles. Be patient with yourself. It took my husband awhile, but he is happier with the j-pouch than having that dreaded colitis that never went into remission. Good luck
Hi Mama Chow, I had my jpouch created at CC last month with Dr Hull. Now trying to schedule my takedown in early late Oct/early Nov. I'd love to hear any advice from your own experience following takedown to where you are currently (offline if you prefer). I'm looking forward to takedown but of course I'm apprehensive. So far so good following 2nd surgery 6 weeks ago.
